Criteria to Apply for Pan American Games 2023 Football

- Single Elimination (1963-1975)

From 1979 onwards, the tournament featured a combination of group stages and knockout rounds. Teams were divided into groups, with the top teams from each group progressing to the knockout stage. - Round Robin and Knockout (2007-present)
